Description

Native American style flute is made of Cedar with Walnut totem. It is in the key of low E 440hz in a minor pentatonic scale. This makes it very easy to play. When I am giving a first instruction I have someone playing a song in just a couple minutes. Known for their soothing tone, playing these flutes requires a certain amount of breath control, so the combination of the breathing technique and the melody produced by ones own breath leads to a very relaxed state. Traditionally refered to a a “one fire ” flute because the sound from an individual flute would only be heard in the area of one campfire, so it is not as intrusive in a household as many musical instruments are.
This one is hand turned, with a flush nest. The slow air chamber and sound chamber are seared to seal the wood fibers, giving a cleaner sound. I burn in the flue, fipple and tuning holes to minimize stray fibers as well. Slightly thinner at the tuning holes than the open end of the sound chamber with decorative rings carved/burned for appearance. A walnut totem secured with leather strap finish off a striking flute. This mid length ( approx 24.5″ version of the low E flute with Tuning holes measurements , coming” from mouthpiece, The lower 3 tuning holes are approx 2.7″ total span, with the lowest being 18.9″. I suggest marking these on a dowell to see how easy covering the tuning holes would be. As in pics, tuning holes are in a straight line.
